i got my license in 1976 with 100 lbs of lobsters at the garage of the head of DMV in Mass dont think how i did it in 1978 or you did in 1993 is applicable now do you. They would put me and the DMV guy in jail for normal everyday stuff now
of course strong arm steering and 2 sticks didn't leave much room for steering wheel holders
your insurance rate is higher with new drivers isn't it
or is that just another mistruth in trucking201 Thanks this. -
I wouldn't 2nd guess pattyj for a second. She knows what she's talking about!
pattyj Thanks this. -
I don't know about all that but thank you just the same.I wanna see the proof that mega carriers im referring to are self insured.201 Thanks this.

The company that hired me is self insured, since I had no prior CDL experience, they were adamant about me providing the certification of graduation from the trucking school I attended.

My ex-gf's trucking company, ( at least 100 trucks) I believe, is self insured, and they are HUGE sticklers for ANY infraction. Hitting a deer is a chargeable, running over a curb, is a chargeable, those little "hack dots" on the windshield, is a chargeable ( made that last one up), but they are very critical of everything you do. They have to be, as, if you can believe it, it's actually cheaper than going with an insurance company.

TransAm claimed to be self insured
in their case it just meant up to a few million then they carried liability so they couldn't lose everything
really no different then very high deductiblepattyj Thanks this. -
ok, you go with that............

It's pretty easy. A quick read of a 10k or form 91x reveals how someone is insured, who insures them, what their deductible is, etc.
91X BIPD/Primary SELF-INSURED NONE $0 $750,000 01/01/2003
Insurance is pricey. It's 3rd highest consumption of cash behind, fuel and driver pay.
