Hello everyone, I have a few questions for you all today. My first question is this, I contacted a swift recruiter and when asked about my employment history I explained to her that its a little rocky, meaning I haven't had stable employment because I wanted to find something I loved and haven't yet, but always knew I was interested in trucking. She said If I left out some of my part time jobs, it wouldn't count against me. I waited roughly 1 week after she told me she sent my pre- hire letter to the school, to call hire right who I assume is the only company swift uses for employment verification purposes. The hire right customer service representative told me there was no discrepancies with my employment history. My second question is, am I good to go with swift after my schooling and training is done with out any worries or am I going to be sent home at orientation. Thanks for the help and your time.

Have you been given an orientation date? If they send you to orientation, they have no problem with your employments history. Only thing that can get you sent home from orientation is failing a drug test, something seriously health related or if they find out you lied on your application. Swift is easy to get hired on with. Good luck.

I have not been given an orientation date yet, I start the cdl school on October 5th, I have and never will do drugs, and no health related issues. The recruiter told me that I didn't have to put all my part time jobs that I had on my application. That last bit has me worried but like I said before I contacted Hire right after a week or so and they said everything was kosher and that there was no discrepancies on my employment history, care to clarify on any of that last bit?

The recruiter is going to tell you whatever you want to hear, just put down all your employment information in the past 10 years.

All potential employers will question gaps in employment and they will question it again at orientation when they do a more thorough check of your application.

What do you mean, the part about it being easy to get hired with them? It is very easy, they have like 20,000 drivers and are constantly hiring. I drove with them for a while and they never did me wrong. Just call back your recruiter and ask. She can probably tell you whether or not your work history will be a problem. My guess is it wont, youll get hired on no problem. Just shop your resume around to a few companies and have some prehires lined up just in case.

Ok, so just go get my W-2's and call up my recruiter and have her add the jobs I didn't add to my Application or how do I go about adding stuff like that and the such?

@KW10001, I meant the part about Hire right, if they say my employment history has no discrepancies, does that mean i'm good to go and have nothing to worry about at orientation?

Going to orientation is not a guarantee of employment. Most companies only run your work history and other things after you pass your drug test and physical.I have been to orientation where guys have been sent home after two or three days because they couldn't verify a job or a gap in employment. That being said it's Swift and even a rocky employment background probably isn't a problem.

It depends on how much marijuana you smoke, also how old is your most recent dui? Have your felony convictions been expunged? I don't think swift does hair follicle to my knowledge .

Also keep your speeding to below 15 over so they don't tag you with a reckless too.
