don't know...myself, I pay others to do work.

(Myself, I included my opinion because...what I've found out working my own AutoShift is there are several basic issues that may have the affect of something expensive. After reworking the same JOB 3 & 4 times replacing big parts with expensive price tags...only to find out the issue was a funk in the air system (got to drain the tanks), sensor, electrical connections needed to be cleaned, ground wire inside the cab has a short, power wire running from the alternator to starter or "cut-off" switch needed replaced...not the ecm, tranny wiring harness or XY shifter.

There a few different models of XY shifters. You do not need to do anything special after you install it. You will want the truck in neutral when you remove it. After you install it, you will need to calibrate it. That is done by turning the truck on and off, and let the XY learn.

I have a gen 2 autoshift. I installed a gen 3 updated XY. I called Eaton and they said no problem, will work fine. Very easy to remove and install, depending on access. The new XY should come with instructions on how to install and calibrate. Any mechanic should be able to do. I did install a new harness for good measure when I did mine. Harness was 180.00 or so. XY was about 950.00.

I wouldn't worry about your XY until it goes bad. Once you get familiar with these transmissions, they are pretty easy to work on, and Eaton has very good technical support.

hi Jerry.last time I was doing a Pm-service.and the Mechanic tell my,I have to change the filter in the tranny, without looking on my truck. When I bring the filter he can changed. He tell me is not for cleaning and show me his certificate, to tell me. he is a good mechanic. What I see I was talking with plenty of mechanics and nobody have a clue about this filter

Read POST#41, click on the web link, read thru the service bulletin: your not replacing, your cleaning it: Air Filter Regulator. When cleaning this small metal filter, before removing make sure the air tanks have been drained...this is a pressurized system. (Sorry about the late reply but you already had the info...myself, i' haven't been online, freight has been frigging great)

Just went through the exact same scenario with my 07 Columbia - also has an Eaton Auto. Turns out the Transmission Contol Module was intermittently losing communication with the ECM. My speedometer was dropping out (would just start erratically dropping and would, at times, sit on 0). The transmission didn't know which gear to be in without the speed data, so I would get a transmission fault (flashing F in 10th). My initial instincts led me to change the speed sensor, but the problem continued. Two trips to the shop - neither could find anything and then on my last trip to a shop, they traced the data cables all the way from the Trans up to the ECM, and alas, there was a power steering hose bumping an ECM cable off of the side of the engine (not completely off, just ####ed a bit) - moved the hose and pushed the ECM plug tightly into place and ..... Boom, problem gone.

The electronics are a Bi%&h on these trucks and Eaton's are horrible.
