Prior to prime, i had manual experience with a motorcycle, and once in my dad's old honda before i had a drivers license. It sucked the first few weeks but i picked it up with practice.

It isn't about laziness, double clutching causes more wear on the bearings. The modern trannies in our trucks are designed with floating gears in mind.darthanubis and Vrv Thank this.

Just remember they only put the clutch in for a foot rest.
darthanubis and Vrv Thank this. -
In a truck, yes you should double clutch. Most simply float them, but the problem with that is most don't know how to do that right. Why would the manufacturer recommend double clutching.? Its not easier to double clutch, It takes work, that's why most don't do it..... They would rather slam gears all day, rather than achieve smooth shifts. Bragging drivers are grasping at straws to separate themselves from the crowd by reinforcing these myths. Its disgusting all the mis-information that is out here, perpetuated by ignorance........
darthanubis and pattyj Thank this. -

Not one time, have I been under the impression that anyone is bragging. Not one person has told me to do it the wrong way. All I see is a bunch of people that know their stuff sharing information, including yourself.

I hit the thank button because the proper way to shifting is double clutching and its a requirement for schools to teach it that way.But on the flip side you can still make smooth shifts floating gears.I did both depending how long of a day ive had.You do a local job you'll probably be floating more the anything and it depends on the comfort of the trk as well.Vrv Thanks this.

I've had a student who learned to drive a manual in my truck. It happens, you probably wouldn't be the only shifting newbie in your class.
darthanubis and Vrv Thank this.
