Thanks TLea, I am enjoying life again. Went regional, hated the short runs, always in and out of docks, just a PITA, so I went back to long haul and am Loving it. Truck Company in Wisconsin, Leased to a Carrier in NY, and dispatchers in Cali. Keeps me running.

at one time I had a truck governed around 62.5 . one time only I did 674 another was 663 in just under 11 hrs. but all the conditions were ok. the norm waa 600 up to 650ish with .50 to .75 to spare. thats been awhile back though

at 68 if the road conditions are good 700 plus is there but not everyday of week. things change.. its how its worked for me anyway

I've also had runs where 35 mph was the average speed part of the way just do to weight and terrain .. I'm going to leave it at that

When I was in 62, I trip planned for 620, at 66 I trip planned for 650, but, you have to be realistic in your expectations. It used to take me 2 to 3 loads to get across country, with my current carrier, its one shot. That in itself makes a HUGE difference.

I work for a major retail furniture business. most, not all, of my trips are live load in Az., live unload somewhere in the Southeast, then mostly drop and hooks (furniture) from Mississippi or Tennessee back to Phoenix. My truck is governed at 75. (some of our trucks are at 80) Our runs are very well organized, and I run an average of 3850 mi. a week. Some of our most productive drivers can run 4200, and have hours left. I'm usually down to minutes left on my 70 when I get back home, some of those guys do 4200 and have 6 hours left. I suspect that they're shaving some time off the on duty status line to do that. But again, we're running Southwest to Southeast, and go back and forth across Texas on the I-20. I-10 corridor, so we can roll. Also, we don't have mandatory fuel stops, so we can save some time by picking places at our convenience, and not waiting in line. Plus, if it takes me only 9 minutes to fuel, I only have to log that. BTW, my personal best day, on E-logs, was 767 miles and I had 2 minutes left on my 11. It was a combination of running at night, avoiding rush hour and keepin the doors closed.

Yes sir ! Mine is out if the Carolinas to the SW and back , mostly. Speed limits are 70, 75 , even 80 in places and with an 78mph truck you CAN get there... and without having to push people up the highway. I don't tailgate or drive recklessly, as I'm sure you don't , either.

It can be done. We mostly do inter-company shipments and I seldom sit at a shippers dock twiddling my thumbs. My time is spent in 13th gear... or the sleeper berth/hotel. Good companies pay for those.
