    Terry,

You don't need the PAPS stickers anymore. They've been replaced by the ACE manifest cover page that the carrier must provide.

    2. Canada customs had recently transitioned to an e-manifest system similar to the US ACE system. This makes the Canadian bar code stickers obsolete.

    3. Need to pay a $10 "user fee" to US customs. This pays the FDA to inspect your load. Every truck must pay doesn't matter if you're carrying FDA regulated cargo or not

Yeah Flatbed, I just did my first ACI shipment last week. I thought I was going to be able to use my PARS number as my ACI shipment number and fax it to the customs broker along with the BOL and customs invoice but the customs broker said "Nope, status quo Joe".

If you cross at Sweet Grass MT the US customs boys don't make you pay after sundown, but they will xray your truck

Apparently Canadian customs is starting to enforce needing an ACI to get into Canada even when you are empty.

I haven't done an empty ACE crossing into USA in .... ever I think ... and I do it often enough, never get harassed about it. Cross empty mainly at Detroit or Lewiston.

No kidding. Back when they started this, the cats at Alex Bay told me I needed one so I've always done them

I've never done an empty ACE either. I just started doing empty ACI's in July. I was told that's when Canadian customs was going to start enforcing it. US customs doesn't enforce it yet I guess. I heard that the rules have been in place for a few years but neither side was enforcing it.
