Disconnect your antenna turn squelch down and volume up. Then operate your accessories. If the noise is gone then it is coming thru the antenna. If it is still present it could be coming thru your power leads. If it is coming thru your power leads ferrite beads may help.
I give up....

thank you....will try
-
Does someone make an EMI filter for this, so i dont have to play electrician?
-
would grounding the radio to a chassis bolt help? Right now it is grounded to the neg batt terminal
-
Grounding to the chassis may help. I think maxon makes a 20 amp noise reduction power cord. I have no experience with it nor have I talked to anyone who has used one.
-
When I get unwanted noise in my radio I find it is in close proximity a truck stop. The easy fix for that static is to turn the knob on the far left all the way to the left, problem solved
.
I felt that this thread needed to lighten up some.
Just picked up my new Galaxy yesterday from DTB, will install it next week. -
On another thought, the OP made a reference to turning up the squelch cut his range back. I never knew that squelch has anything to do with transmit, just reception. Correct if wrong.
-
That's precisely what the guy meant his receiving range has been drastically cut by turning up the squelch
-
Well was I right or not?
-
I think you misinterpreted his definition of range as being transmit but he was talking about his receiving range. Squelch has no effect on transmit and I'm sure the guy knows it.
All it does is cripple the receiving range of the radio.Last edited: Oct 1, 2015
