My co-driver and I were promised average of $1500 a week with a minimum of $1,200 per driver to drive as a team hauling D.O.D. loads and other hazmat. That was until my co-driver and I commit to going to orientation. The day we received flight and hotel confirmation, SLT sent out a revised email stating that my co-driver and I will earn $150 per day ($1050 per week each) until we had our 172 page, SF86 security clearance applications filled out and sent into their office (not a secured location). After committing to the said $150 per day guaranteed pay, we discovered that $55 of that amount was per diem which the company counted as untaxed wages. So basically we were earning $95 a day or $665 per week! We sat in our truck away from home every week while being back charged for idle time in 100 degree+ temperatures. My team driver and I were sent on solo driver loads or loads that were less than 1,000 miles and spent half our time at shippers and receivers without layover or detention pay all the while hauling toxic waste. We were issued our tractor/truck on July 14th with less than 25 miles on the odometer. We turned our truck in a month later with 9,500 miles. We expected 3,000 miles a week. We were originally lead to believe that bonuses would make up the initial pay discrepancy. However, we were later told that they would not be available until 90 consecutive days of employment and only after our security clearance was processed - that was also a lie. One team in our orientation class had been doing D.O.D. loads for years and already had their clearances. However, when they began with SLT, the company paid them $95 per day anyway and lied about getting them into a lease truck! On that account, there are too many discrepancies between what SLT advertises and what is really going on behind the lines to report in one message. To make a long story short, we were lied to and cheated out of money by working for this company even in the short time we were there. My co-driver and I cleaned out the truck right before our scheduled home time. We did not have the opportunity to give our official notice of intent to resign before receiving a phone call the very same day from an office manager. The office manager told us we were terminated and that our final paychecks would be used at their unaccountable discretion to cover travel expenses, etc. and to use however they sought fit which only added insult to injury. Experienced drivers, consider yourself warned.

Not to forget they also charged us each $120 for a total of $240 for the CB radio in the truck, (it was broken), so we took out while we were on home time and replaced it with one we had, (we had all intentions of sending the broken one back once we got home. Upon our termination they basically claimed we stole the broken radio and now we have paid the price! The price of the rental car and the fuel to get home was on us as well. Total waste of time and energy to work for that company!

Ha! Oh you won't pay me? I forgot to turn the truck off. And set the breaks. And I accidentally drained some fluids. But I poured them back into the DEF tank so everything should be good. Oh yeah, you have 10 flat tires and 6 damaged rims.

Patty J, they don't just advertise on craigslist. I actually first saw it on facebook and when we were out in the east we saw billboards. They are desperate, we just didn't realize how much so!
I took screen shots of everything they posted on facebook and hoping to collect enough evidence that they are scheisters. We'll see!
