I went to Roadmaster, Signed up based on the recruiter and finance person telling me 3 to 4 weeks, Paid for 4th week for Externship. I get their and school tells me if I dont take one of their Externships that i would have to have 220 class hours. I left told them that is now what we talked about and agreed to. This happened Monday. Tuesday i called Roadmaster Main number on website and told them my problem. Today around 4 pm eastern i got a call from recruiter asking me what happend, and I told her she lied me and then spoke to her Manager he said it is PA state Law that requires 220 hours. Or 160 hours unless u do externship with one of 5 companies with them. says the 60 hour externship completes your certificate. and the 220 hours requires. The 60 hours with one of 5 companies driveing is supposed to count as dual time both for roadmaster to compelte the 220 and 60 hours of training though that company you chose. His name was Mike
Externship, not Internship sorry if i misquoted that before. didnt think i did but maybe. -
Also you dont need the actual certificate in hand to be hired. I went to swift knowing I wouldn't work/drive for them they kept my certificate until I pay them and I was still hired by another company because all they have to do is call and verify That the course 160hrs is completed
speedyk Thanks this. -
i ain't never heard of "externship", so i thought you misspelled "internship"
in fact, externship with spelling correction, comes up as internship..>>!!!!!!!
either way, i think it's a work for free thing.....BS i say to that.
one time many years ago, i went on a road test. the guy took me to a place to deliver a load. i asked him out right, am i gonna be paid? he said no, this is part of your road test. since we were all of about 1 mile from the terminal..??
i bailed out and walked back to my car. and i made sure i told the manager what he could do with his free labor. -
Wow I have looked at soo many schools, biggest problem with most is distance, and those that supplement that with a room to stay in, get up their in cost. If one i am looking at within 35 miles works out ill be happy cost is much less than roadmaster and I had company i am looking to work for check it out and they said it looked real good and acceptable so we shall see what happens
-
Well i dont know about all companies, but Roehl and a couple others i looked at either need least 3 to 6 mths exp or a certificate
-
Ya so basically from all i have read and looked at Roadmaster in PA was going to make me go over 160 hours or do an Externship. All of wich they failed to mention prior to me getting their. Stayed 2 nights in hotel and now they billing me for that. I dont have a problem paying my way in life, been doing it for over 25 years, but i don't fell like they should get a dime from me since they lied and misrepresented themselves to me.
SHOJim Thanks this. -
ok, but you have to now prove that in small claims court. if they have a signature of yours, you're pretty much stuck. i think that just accepting the motel room, is enough that you agreed to the terms. ask a lawyer, usually the first visit is free.CanadianVaquero Thanks this.

Didn't sign the contract, They have it setup so that you can OPT Out at no charge during the first week.
-
well then the motel might be a legit charge for you to pay, since you left. i'd say if it ain't too much (under $100), pay it. then again, don't pay it, what's the worst that they can do to you...Circumcise you..????
