Evaluating isn't a bad thing! But it's nice to be forewarned and not be unprofessional when you are in the Southgate yard.

how is it that you're not employed by JB Hunt but yet they pay you for orientation... If they're paying you then technically by Law you're an employee.

Technically you are an employee, however it is At-Will. Meaning they can let you go at any time. For any reason. Same with the employee, they can leave at any time for any reason.

They pay you for your time being there... minimum wage... but your not officially hired as a driver until you complete the road test, drug test and background etc...

But they are not treating you like an employee until you complete orientation...technically you might be right...but the FACT is...you do not work AS A DRIVER AND EARN DRIVERS PAY with j.b hunt until you successfully complete orientation... That's how they fool drivers....making them think they hired on, get the driver down there, and they find out they don't have the job yet after all... a lot of drivers quit their jobs, get released from j.b hunt and end up jobless that quick.. you cant fall for it..thats why I posted this thread..

Thanks for the info. Its good to know that they are worse than I even imagined. I would never work for them simply on principle, Ive driven by all those intermodal trains crossing the country with those containers, each one taking a load away from a fellow driver and driving down rates for us all.

I would be curious to know what you think good money is though, for me it starts getting good around the $1500 a week range.

$300 a day was not hard for me to do. Home every night and weekends.
I don't consider the rail taking loads away from drivers. Most drivers these days don't want to work OTR. They want a cushy job where they can see their families. Intermodal allows this. But it's also not for everyone. They are a good company in my eyes and had very good benefits. However this is my personal opinion and not everyone will agree.

I agree... 1500 a week is great and there are several companies that will pay you that and some.. For j.b hunt that's above average but there are drivers that get 1400+ a week.. it just depend on the drivers attitude and account they working on..
