OTR dress code

As G. Anthony said there are free showers everywhere and through good trip planning, there is absolutely no excuse not to shower everyday. Most of us net over 1000.00 per week so I have no problem showing that I work hard for my money buy purchasing nice attire and a decent pair of foot wear. I love the respect I get from my dispatcher, shippers and receivers, DOT Officers, and not to mention the public in general when I step out of my truck. I have never been disrespected anywhere I go. I love this job and lead by example.

 

Any other job where you have to leave your wife, kids and friends behind for months at a time you make six figures. You guys are dramatically underpaid.

 

those that are away for months at a time, chose that job, we did not put them there, nor gave them their grooming habits, or lack of them.

the rest of us, are well groomed, wear nice/clean work clothing, and eat well, sleep well, and are dramatically paid well.

still no need for the slovenly fools out there.

always time and a few dollars to keep clean.

no need to be empathetic if they are slobs. they put themselves in that situation.

 

are steal toe shoes mandatory in all compaies?

 

Not unless you plan on hauling tanker then some customers require steel toe boots if you enter their facility like plants where flatbedders go.But general freight no not that I know of.

 

no. but that is debatable whether they should be or not. when you are driving, you don't need them.

if you have to be on the dock, you may be required to have them. many times the customer will demand you have them on. when i ran the road, i had a pair of work shoes, steel toed in my truck when needed. and never put them on unless i was asked if i had them.

some companies reimburse you, some do not. save the sales receipt for tax time.

if a company you work for requires you to buy them, then my feelings are they should reimburse.

 

i am going to say this as nicely as i know how: you dont understand what empathy means. You can be empathetic towards a murderer and still want to serve him the gallows.

 

yes, yes i do understand. being empathetic YOU understand. me there, is no understanding on how they are slobs.

Just military and war? You see NO reason to kill except military and war? So if someone robs your house blind then rapes your wife at gun point in front of you are you going to just say "now just hang in there cupcake i cant morally kill him because you arent enlisted in the mitary and we arent in a warzone!"?
