I agree with my schedule being a bit much lol.. I am really testing the spyware program to see what gets what..

At the min you should have 2 spyware programs because what one may miss the other may get..

Defrag does cause a drive to get warm and you should have your case well ventilated.. (should be that way anyways) I use Diskeeper (not free must buy) that usually only takes 1-3 minutes to defrag where windows defrag could take 30 min- several hours..

I haven't came across a free defrag program that I trust that runs well as Diskeeper

I usually defrag on a much more relaxed schedule and it's generally part of a general cleanup process. I like using the Ultimate Boot CD for Windows and do everything off line. Auslogics Disk Defrag is included with that and seems to work pretty well. It's free, but is probably not as fast as Diskeeper.

Most of those can be turned off pretty easily. Vista Basic doesn't even have most of them as an option.

The problem, as with all Microsoft OSes, is that it was released long before it was ready. When it comes right down to it, XP was really just the fully tested and working version of Windows 2000 - and in a few years, they'll release a similar working version of Vista under a new name.

I have a hard time hating Bill Gates these days, though - what he's done with his lucre is nothing short of inspiring.
