    Hello,
I sit here totally disgusted with myself.I had a thread awhile back about how I drove without a license for awhile and finally became responsible to straighten everything out and become legal, which I did back in Nov of 2007.Well since then I have obtained my Class A license and have applied to numerous companies.
Well unfortuneatley for my past actions, I am paying a huge price still today. I have had to explain my story to these companies about why I have only had my license for 7 months at the age of 43.Well what it basically comes down to is this, these companies wont hire me because I dont have 1 or 2 years regular driving experience and that most insurance companies want at least 1 year :biggrin_2552:.
I sit in aww everytime I think about this, I know I did it to myself but it never occured to me that this would be my downfall. So now I sit here looking for a job since I am unemployed . Does anyone have any advice for me I am at a total loss at the moment.I am licensed to drive but cant :biggrin_25518:. I am also getting real nervous that when the time comes I will be so rusty at driving a rig, I have more and more grey hairs popping out everytime I think about it. Any advice would be appreciated . Thank you.

I really feel for you!! My husband is also paying a high price for his past mistakes to, he has already lost 2 local driving oppotunities! He will not be able to drive till March 2011. There is not much you can do to fix it either, you just have to keep your nose clean from now on. Like the dmv, gave me this wonderful encouraging news, things will eventually fall off, gee thanks that does not help us now!! GRR:biggrin_2556:. I thought that after 18 months the speeding tickets dissapeared, nope just the points, the ticket itself, stays on for the rest of the calander year, and then 3 years after!! Thats the rule here at least. Yea I would try them to, Werner hired hubby. Just be carefull, with them as they like nothing better than to destroy your dac report especially when you quit, then you have that, plus the dmv problem, then no one wants you. I wish I had some better advice for you. Good Luck, and just keep trying.:biggrin_25525:

I don't understand. You came on here asking what would happen when you go to court because you got caught driving without a CDL. You only wanted to know because you wanted to be a equipment operator and they needed a CDL. I think more than I said to get a lawyer because there's FMCSR involved that may prevent you from ever driving. But you went ahead and got lucky. You got your CDL AFTER your ticket and the judge failed to see that so you were then ready to operate equipment for a living. So what happened to that?

I think you need to be real honest about why the companies will not hire you. Why does your past affect your job? There's lots of guys that are 43 and only have a few months experience. So why would you have to explain your past problems? Why can't you say you worked in the field operating equipment? Just about any of the bottom feeders will take you and send you to refresher school and out you go.

I have applied to Werner, Swift, and Roehl and they all told me the same thing.I feel like I hit a brickwall. If I cant get in any of those companies what options do I have left is what I am asking.I am sure you veteran drivers have heard all the stories and I am just wondering if you can throw some advice my way. I am at a total loss of where to go from here.

I am very sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but you will have to wait until it falls off your dmv report, even the small companies check the report. Sorry!:biggrin_2554:
