Ok I know how to house train a puppy but how do you train them to use a litter box and what do you put in the litter box not cat litter or?

yes, cat litter non odorized, or use speedi dri. you could use sand, but then that will not absorb the pee well enough. and cut down on odors.

just put the pup in the litter box, or walk him/her to it, and have him/her stay there till it "goes".

They make these things called puppy pads that dogs apparently like to pee on.
I think they're like rug that's absorbent like a diaper and smells like grass.
A couple years ago I was with this girl in Indy who used them and watched her little rat dog lift his leg to go on it and missed the mat, peed all over her carpet.
I guess they work if your dogs not an idiot.

They sell puppy pads that are for dogs to go on, basically like a little blanket that you simply throw away... Easily available at any pet store... http://www.amazon.com/s?ie=UTF8&page=1&rh=i:aps,k:Puppy Training Pads
