That's a good comparison shot Nate. Most of those mod pics are very deceiving as they don't have anything for scale...

Yes - Stacked I am around 78k, so I can weight wise. Technically, I should run a permit for 2 reasons: the trailer is almost 58' even with the short neck and it has 9' wide axles. One has to look very closely at it but if you put a tape to it I could get ticketed. I should have purchased a round trip to get me out but it was not clear where I would head after unloading. When I find a load, I will permit to get it.
Normally I would not stack the booster as it a pain to re-attach. However, with the booster down I am way over 90' and MI requires a rear pilot car and no weekend travel. I really did not want to spend the weekend at the customer and then spend $300 to get out of the state when I find a load next - hopefully.catalinaflyer, Pipe 40 and peterbilt_2005 Thank this. -
How do you feel about the choice to move to the bigger trailer?
-
When I have work, I really enjoy it. It is very different than running 7/8 axle. So the learning curve has been steep.
I really felt like the freight would move with more advance notice but it has not worked out that way so far. Everyone posting loads today for today pick up, even though if one was right there permitting and escorts would still be an issue.
I of course have gone into this in the face of declining rates and increased competition, things have been tough getting going.
Had I projected the rate decrease in the fall last year, I would probably not have order the trailer. That said, one cannot go back and get a do over.
I am hoping to make the right contacts and continue to grow as a HH guy.
But too many phone calls like one on Friday, a JD 470 IL to CO all in price offered at $5000 on 108k load. Just crazy!!!!Dominick253, tsavory, TripleSix and 3 others Thank this. -
$5000 to a dead zone would have been cheap for a 7 axle.
Superhauler Thanks this. -
