Once you start those pads they'll think that's what there for and never get trained. Just get a cage and make pit stops and reward them.

Crate train the puppy inside the truck. I took my dog with me for a few years and the truck was the one place she never ever had an accident. Just stop frequently until you both get familiar with the operation.

A pet is a perfect way to stop loneliness of OTR. Layovers and breakdowns can be a "female dog". If you get a hotel, they may not allow pets. If your truck is in the shop they may not allows pets inside the driver lounge. Some customers don't allow pets on property.

based on the way we trained K9's was besides house breaking there isn't much you can do until after they are 1 year old. Up until then they are just like a baby and will do normal baby kid stuff that shouldn't be punished for it is just nature vs nurture.

My dog used them since she was a pup (well she still is a pup just big for her age) they are nothing more then a training aid over time you move the pad outside then take it away by that time the should know where and where not to handle things

I'm not a fan of putting them in cages

Lotta dogs get 'cooked' every Summer, we had a kid die in a Walmart parking lot* a month ago, I say let the driver spend the same amount of time in the same circumstances.

    * grandma was working 5 hours inside before a passerby looked in the SUV.

you would just need to stop frequently and walk the dog when there a puppy i would not litter train a dog. as they get older you don't need to stop quite as often. my dog has been in the truck with me sense a puppy.

I used the pads for my dog. She only used them twice and quickly caught on that I stopped every three or four hours and she would just go outside then.

You put them in the cage when just a puppy. You get them out to do there business and reward them. Do a search on cage training-potty training. Been there done that. Some breeds are better than others-just like people. Cage will not to show them there bad its there sanctuary.

My dog is not very well tained. Loves to pee and poop in the house even if we let her out every hour. But in the truck she will whine up a storm if she has to go to get out of the truck. I think it was because the first couple months I had no absorbent surfaces in the truck besides the bed. I thought about bringing puppy pads but then realized I'd rather keep her instinct to not potty in the truck. She's only had one accident and it was my fault for not taking her out in the morning. 20150622_074942.jpg 20150911_092206.jpg
