I have 2 animals in the truck with me, both cats. They have been with me since they were kittens and are house cats at home, too. They sleep 16 hours a day in the truck and 18-20 hours a day at home.

The only reason I dont have a dog too is because it wouldn't be fair to a dog, as we run team and have maybe 1 day a week where the dog would get proper walks and outdoor play time. We travel in snowy climates half of the year, and I dont want snow and slush tracked everywhere in the truck.

If there isn't even time to allow the pup out to use the bathroom every couple of hours, it seems unfair and somewhat selfish to have one.

With the right dog it's not bad. My dog sleeps like a cat and just loves to be with me. I also drive flatbed so I have to stop every 150 miles to check my load. I take her with me to walk around the truck on most of them.

May I recommend getting a dog from the pound. They need loved the most and make excellent companions.I got my dog tiny from the shelter when I first started driving trk,she was a puppy and didn't need no training to do her business outside.I think if you take the dog out every 2 hrs you'll be fine.

Personally I wouldn't want to lift a big dog in and out of the truck all the time. Others don't mind. Something to think about.

Good dogs. I worry about their nails getting caught in the steps.
