For those who are not aware, at lessors you are required to run a minimum of 9250 miles a month in order to keep your benefits and remain eligible for your next 6 month half cent raise. If at ANY time you fall below 9250 for two consecutive months, you lose all of your benefits until things pick back up and you're back at 9250 or above again. Not only do you lose your benefits but you have to wait another 6 months for your next raise, and each time you fall below 9250 two months in a row, that clock resets. I knew this when I came to Lessors but decided to hire on anyway. The checks have been good enough for me to stay with them. Knowing what I know now, now that I've been with them for a little while, would I come to Lessors? No. Why not? Too much sitting between most loads. It's not at all uncommon for me to get a 34 between loads whether I need one or not. I'm based out of the Dover, FL yard. The only time I have ever gotten a load out of Florida without having to wait at least two days was my first load after orientation. The way it's been for me is, I either have a load lined up before I deliver the one I have, or I sit a couple of days. I just don't think they have the freight. When things are good, they're great. When things are slow, they're dead. Really hasn't been any inbetween. Other than that things have been good.

How much do you get paid waiting 2 days in Florida for a load? Who is the health insurance provider?

The insurance has a lot to be desired, no doubt. But freight sucks in Florida right now. That's the straight up truth. Ask anybody and they'll tell ya, Florida is slow right now. Get yourself out west and you'll be asking for a break. Tons of loads down to SoCal and up the 5 then back to Boise area.

I can't fathom how they can implement such a benefit policy (health insurance) where it can be taken away, due as often to company deficiencies as driver deficiencies. So, what, when it comes time to take a week off for vacation, does that mean you're going to have to see your insurance dropped for 6 months? I'm not even sure if such a company policy is legal relating to health insurance benefit. (The cutting off AND the 6 month wait)
Certain regions are going to become slow. Period. And there is nothing the driver can do to overcome this. 3 or 4 days a month sitting waiting on freight can easily put you behind the eight ball, then get caught up in major winter storm that may cause you to sit 2 days due to interstate closure? Screw that nonsense.
If they paid 100% of the drivers' policy, MAYBE, MAYBE I could get on board with such a policy but some how I doubt this is the case, either.Last edited: Oct 12, 2015
