So Im at 3 months before i leave the service (Army), i got job offers from both trucking company's, Maverick Trans out of Gary IN. and Jb Hunt out of Elwood IL with a Home Depot account. I know Maverick is a flat bed company and Jb Hunt is not. My questions are which company is best? has anyone work this areas? home time? JB Hunt told me 2-3days home during the week and weekends off which right now im leaning more with JB because of home time. Maverick said weekends off, pay is almost the same. If anyone has experience with this company's and this areas please help me out. Thanks

I would not want to deal with job sites day in and day out (DCS) as well as difficult residential deliveries into storm-damaged neighborhoods. Not to mention things come to a halt for Home Depot deliveries when weeks of rains set in. That's my 2 cents.

Jb hunt dcs don't sound to bad, I'm on a dcs account with them and it's working for me.. Never mind what people say about them, they are a good company!

I am looking to go with them in December of this year 2015. The gentleman that is hiring me said if i can only produce 8,000 miles a month they would let me go. That they would like to see more around 11,000 miles which is fine with me on a regional/dedicated route and 45 cents a mile to start. Does that sound right? Do you make at least that?

That might be true if your on a dcs account, but I never heard of any one getting fired for only running 8000 miles a month. It may be different in Texas.. Was it a recruiter who told you this?

From my understanding he works with like 50 different companies to help find drivers jobs that works for the drivers needs and wants. But like everybody else I'm sure he gets paid for every employee he brings in to those companies. So I'm sure he will tell you what you want to hear.

You can make money with them if you get on a good dcs account.. I make more money driving local than being a regional driver.. Anyways good look if you come on board with them..
