Even i don't think anyone would complain that the black finish is gone.....especially for the size of quarter...anyway the next driver will put a new antenna and were back to square one.

Now if you slip seat that's another game, depends on what kind of set up and result expected on your end.

bet you wish it was that color instead of that white you are used to

I don't care anymore. All those company trucks are ugly anyway, and I'm just too old to care......just doing it for the money now days. My requirements are as follows.....and in this order of importance: Smooth riding with a good seat and everything works like it is supposed to, clean inside including the glass, XM radio, half way decent CB. I actually prefer to get a dirty truck on the outside. That way I don't have to do much to it when I'm done with it to leave as good or a little better than I found it!

I saw someone who had a dipole on a plate that was just bolted into the stock antenna stud. You could try that, and work out a way to insulate it? Ha, from what I gather, the stock stud is already pretty well insulated.
mike5511 Thanks this. -
Ben in this same truck for 10 months now. It gave me fits for a while. My fix wont work well for you as I stay in same truck. I built a bolt on antenia mount that is about 16 or 18 ( cant remember) tall. My Preditor sits 13 ft. 6 inches. Had to run new coax cause factory ones would not reach bottom of antenia. 1.4 swr with a dave made 5 pill inbetween. A long distance talker. You helped me on something 7 or 8 months ago. Can not remember what it was. Might have been something on grounding. Any way this set up I have could be made more quick friendly fairly easy. My company bought about 60 of these 680s. All of the distance talkers had to get the antenias up in the air to really do any good.mike5511 Thanks this.

Vice grip mount? Or is there nowhere to clamp it??

How about posting a picture?

Yeah that is the direction I'm leaning right now. My Connex won't fit in the hole in the overhead either. They are cutting on the hole to make them fit for the assigned drivers, but I won't go to that trouble since I slip seat. The big problem is some of these guy's radios don't work worth a poop! I don't like to un-hook or mess with their stuff. In the Freightliners I could just strap my radio on top of theirs and go.....the Kenworth presents a new challenge with that as well. I do have a hot little Cobra 25 that will fit in the hole if it's vacant though....

Not really, certainly not on the mirror arms. I could probably go with something on the back of the sleeper if worse comes to worse. That is a little more time consuming to set up, especially after dark. -
I got a mirage 36hp that fits in the kenworths. It's the size of a cobra with galaxy board. Put out about 45 watts. I just wish I'd got the ssb model.
