You can use the search on here to read info that I've posted about my company Trucks Inc. I'm 95% satisfied with them working on year 3 and its longest I've ever not been "looking" around at other companies. Oh and I am one of the harder to please guys when it comes to work I turn into a 2 year old if I don't get my way LOL.

I've been talking to a recruiter. He says that drivers get about 2500 miles per week. The word (about) concerns me. That's not really a whole lot of miles either. At first he said that they would start me out at .48 cpm based on only 8 years of my 24 years history of driving a truck. When he called me back on the following Monday he said that "you know that you will get .07 cpm more when you get your TWIC card and passport?", not a good way to start a conversation about a pay offer. He then told me that he could only verify 4 years of my history (so far) and offered me .43 cpm. I told him that I wasn't going to accept that offer with as many years experience that I have. I know where I can make .48 cpm right now, but that company isn't that great, and the miles aren't always there. He told me to give him another week to verify my work history. Oakley wants all of your history verified via fax from your previous employers, and that is what they base your pay on. The problem with that is that I started driving a truck in 1991 (legally) and many of the companies that I worked for aren't even around any longer. In fact only one is around from before the year 2000. The recruiter needlessly had me send him pictures of w-2's from five years of the 1990's and then basically said that he couldn't use that as verification. WTH? What was the point in me digging that crap out then? I'm still looking for a job. I have to admit that the pay and the days off allotted is what has drawn me to Oakley. Two days off for every seven your out accumulated in a month, and you can take eight days off in a row if you want (according to the recruiter). I was looking more at taking 4-5 days off in a row after being out a month. Most companies only give you 2 or 3 days off after being out 3 or 4 weeks, and that's not enough home time.
I would really like to hear from a driver that is currently working for Oakley so I can find out what is true and what isn't. I've heard the 2 bad stories, but they are several years old now. If anyone has any current news it would be greatly appreciated. -

Me to. I've called once but can't get a hold of the guy that recruits for Texas.

Oakley is reneging on their hiring agreements. One of the big subjects is the two days off earned for every week out. It has now changed to one day off for every week out. That right there is enough for many drivers to start looking elsewhere. I know many drivers with families that work to live and support their family, not live to work and never get to spend any time with their family. Home time is important to most drivers. The rest of the letter is also just another fine example of why drivers don't trust trucking companies. Almost everything changed overnight. My favorite part is where they state that by only paying you one day (max) of break down pay after 48 hours of being broke down, it is holding themselves (Oakley) accountable. The same thing applies to layover pay. They must think drivers are truly stupid. Accountability without cost is no accountability at all.Last edited: Nov 15, 2015
