Thanks for the link Mike. That is an interesting set up you have.

Next question, if the Wilson doesn't work with a Cascadia, what about a 4 1/2 foot Francis? Is that adjustable? Can a CB shop tune that in? Or whatever they have to do to get the swr set right? Money is a factor, and so is availability. I don't get down to Memphis, so stopping at that CB shop isn't gonna happen. I'm mostly in the Midwest, based out of the Chicagoland area. If that helps.

I run a predator 10-k but a 7' skip shooter works fine, I get out 25-30 miles now or while in Texas and Mountains I did.

I tried the Wilson w/10" and 18" shaft. also tried one on a 4ft shaft I made. I also tried Monkey Made, Francis and a 5ft SkipShooter. You need at least a 7ft antenna to get above the cab sufficiently. It doesn't have to be the SkipShooter (they sell them elsewhere). http://www.skipshooterantennas.com/
Any 7ft fiberglass antenna will work that is top loaded and most of them are. They may have to order the 7ft for you. There are several shops listed on the link above.

Trooper, what's a predator 10-k? Can you post a pic of your setup?

Question, what could be causing the swr to read up to channel 29, but no further. Once I hit channel 30, I get exactly 1.0 which jumps between 0.0 and 3.5 what the heck is going on, can't for the life of me figure it out. If I speak into the mic, it will go up rather than down. It's just channels 30-40.

Most built in meters are not accurate.

If you want to really know what your SWR is, use a quality external meter.

4-1/2 feet will not cut it. 5-1/2 Francis worked OK for me awhile back. Got a Monkey Made MM-9 Long that worked better. Replaced the Monkey Made with a 7' Firestick and never looked back.
