Yep.. $10 for a gallon of milk negates high wages if you can get them.

"Running produce to Alaska " by vikingswen. That's what he does, is runs to Alaska. I think he drives for Fairchild Freight.
He has a good thread on running Alaska. It's on the "Refrigerated Trucking" forum.

He could make more than that working in North Dakota for the right company or Alaska without putting his life in danger.

I have a friend who answered a newspaper ad in Saskatoon Saskatchewan Canada about trucking in the United Arab Emirates. He was told to go to whatever truck dealer he wanted and select whatever truck he wanted. They bought it and paid to have the truck shipped to Dubai, flew him there business class, gave him a free place to live in a really nice house that he shared with 2 other North American truckers, a Land Rover to use during his personal time, and he got paid $300K US for a 2 year contract. He was 20 something at the time and single, and spent the entire 2 years there. At the end of the contract, they gave him the truck and shipped it back home for him and flew him home business class. This was in 2007. He chose a fully loaded Western Star 4900EX LowMax, and he still has it now. However, he will not talk about what kind of hauling he did. His usual answer is "A little of this, a little of that. Nothing really dangerous." He told me the name of the company once, but I don't remember it. He did say that the owner was obscenely wealthy.

10 or so years ago pay was up there, $120-150k for drivers, private convoy escort drivers $180k++...if you get 80-100k in the middle east now, that's about it and not worth it - you can make that here.
Alaska, no idea but I'm sure pay is lower then it use to be since so many people started going out there last few years.

Either way, stay away from ME..
    It's a hell hole. :(
