Hi - I am thinking about getting my CDL and going back to work. I have been a stay at home mom for about 10 years now. I am excited but at the same time I'm nervous because have no idea of what to expect.

Expect the unexpected

Expect to be harassed and belittled, propositioned and talked down to. I don't do it myself, and it really bothers me to see how women are treated out here. Otherwise....welcome to The Machine

Well thank you...
I did read some things like that... I was told that it really didn't happen that they were exaggerations or misunderstandings. -
my best and truthful reply came from the PTL recruiter at my school " I guarantee you there are no guarantees in trucking". I don't work there and hope not to but at least he was sincere. Don't go to a company school. Go to a community college or to a 3rd party school. At a company school you are stuck there..

Why trucking? And don't say you like driving on road trips because it's not the same

Maybe she wants to be a payed tourist
-
Could be joining the gold rush. I hear all truck drivers are rich
-
It's not a blanket statement by any means, but it is by no means rare. I can tell you stories that would curl yer hair....HorseShoe Thanks this.

100% of your time at home to 10% of your time at home would be the biggest obstacle for you in my opinion.
However I've heard that raising children takes 100% of your time so maybe it wouldn't be that much of an adjustment lol
