I really don't think it is a popularity contest. As a newbie here, I read almost all of the posts and tend to give the most credit to the ones with most green dots, since I figure, those with the most green dots, have given and are giving the best information. If you post a lot and give good information, you get more green dots and are possibly more believable.:biggrin_25514:

If you have red dots, I still read and wonder (at times) why the heck you have red dots! I have gotten a lot of information from you!

I do think the mods need to explain this at some point. When you click on the weight thingy, it asks if you agree or disagree...and asks for a comment. We are all free to agree or disagree....some people may be hitting " I don't like this post" simply because they don't agree with you. It doesn't explain that you are "dinging" the person. As a newbie, I didn't realize that it helped or hurt...I thought it asked if you liked it.

I know very little about trucking, but I try to give good advice based on what I have learned and lived, and most of what I know about trucking is from this site, but the living thing comes from being older, managing businesses, and being the mother of four!:biggrin_25525:

    Give me the green! LOL!

    More on that later.
And a much appreciated poster --- might I add?
    Hmmmmmmm
So, in other words, perhaps, you read the more,....... uhhhh, 'popular' posters? :biggrin_25525:
    And possibly popular?

    YuP!
    It's the message that counts.
Not so much how it was delivered.
    YeAH!
    That just ain't right! :biggrin_25512:
Realizing that elevates you up to well informed rookie. :biggrin_25525:

    YeAH but, .......
Would you believe you probably know MORE than a few drivers I've met? :biggrin_25524:
Well no WONDER you've learned so much. :biggrin_25525:
That right thar is a job I'd never apply for. :biggrin_25523:

This is probably old news to allot of you
But along with the green dots, which will be maxed out for some of you(11)
    You are also given points
Different from the thank yous, others can not see them
When you click on the user CP tab upper left hand side it will open up a window that will show you threads you have posted in, a great way to keep track of what you have been talking in and keep tract of others who post responses
But if you scroll down it will show you who gave you those green dots and what they had to say
It will also give a point total collectively
Depending on who gave you the comment and the amount of post they have will depend on how many points they give you
There is so much to this forum, you'll never get bored LOL

    good info Baack.
the green dots really don't matter much to me. but as a Mod my rep is maxed out anyway. they ding me all they want cause it won't hurt regardless. the reason for this is because when you nail somebody for a violation most will try to ding you just to get even.
the other thing is that YOU and Mods are the ONLY ones who can read a comment in your reputation. nobody else can see it. and we don't ban members for red dots. all 11 of your dots can be red and it won't matter to us.
