I'd be leery of an 08' very first year of the DPF systems. Unless you are in California buy something older than 08' or newer than 13', seems like the newer trucks finally have most of the after treatment bugs worked out of them.
Tim_1326 Thanks this. -
Thx.

Good price, bad year. Find an 07 or older.

08's (1st generation)used the ultra low sulfur diesel as the DPF injection into the stack for the regen, after the filter is full it derates your engine, then you have to take it to the dealer Yaay! it is best to replace the stack filter, dont waste your money having it cleaned, replace it. So check that its an important item some folks overlook till they sign on the line!
19-25K is about right depending on milage and what has been done at the 600-700K mark...Tim_1326 Thanks this. -
Yeup pre-emissions 07 is the way to go esp if you are in Cali But nOTHING OLDER than 07
because you have until 2023 to replace it so it gives you some time before you have mess with the smog stuff(at least in California) -
Geez, honestly lots of miles.Price is low enough but high potential to turn into a money pit.Hopefully not. I wish you great success.JMO

I have an 08 t660 with a cummins isx, has 666k, no problems with dpf, knock on wood
Tim_1326 Thanks this. -
not buying anything. Just doing research. Miles are low for year & 25k isn't much risk. Paying 50+ for a used truck is tho
-
Anything used is hit & miss. Might get lucky or strike out but 25k isn't talking bankruptcy tho ... Buying a 100k truck is tho. Is it possible to buy a truck & put someone in it & make a profit?
