I've done surge for both Walmart and Target.
And I'm with you on the 'never again' part.

I'm at a TA in OH. I deliver tomorrow morning in WV, then pick up at the same place 6 hours after I get done unloading. I'm hoping I can get them to load me earlier.
That load t-calls in Decatur, GA because there is a lot of time on it. I don't relish the idea of going there, and I'll be out of hours when I get there so I'll be stuck there for the night.

My next home time is set for the 23rd in Denver, so it won't be too long before I can start turning down stuff I don't like to get there.

I do not mind helping out at the Target Reefer division at the W. Jefferson branch. I am given the same pay as OTR and stop pay. But not Walmart. I lose my short haul pay and stop pay. I go from $35 to $20 per stop. Now here is the latest. Just had a long call with breakdown and a RLS has been opened that I am not happy with the way that I was treated. Also found out that if this would have happened one week earlier then the tow would have been covered. Also now Cummins is involved and maybe, just maybe my tow is covered because fuel pump. I might just come out all right.

Now something strange, here next to the hotel is place called Puelo's. They are known for their food in the area. I was told to try the grits and shrimp. Sound weird but I might. I have been told that it is not the same grits that you would get for breakfast. Think that I might have to have a couple of beers while I think about it.

Last day at home. Finially got hold of my DM and asked him to set me up with a Costco load to Las Vegas for tomorrow.
Less than 10 minutes later my phone jingles with a preplan for EXACTLY what I wanted.

I hope you tried it. My wife got some at a local Cajun type place and it was outstanding. A new favorite dish for both of us.

At the Petro in N Las Vegas eating breakfast.

Asked my DM specifically for a Clearwater Paper load from N Las Vegas to Lewiston and 5 minutes later I had a preplan for same.

Except for the rain and not being able to get my truck inspected, yesterday was a very good day.

    Spartansburg, SC.

I was thrown a bit of a curve ball today.
My t-call was cancelled so I am stuck delivering this load Monday morning.
I was told that Monday live unloads are not eligible for t-call, and that there was no freight until Monday anyway.
It only adds about 150 miles to my route, but also over a day.
The message also came with a pplan that will push my 14 Monday to the limit. I'm hoping I can find a place to park

Still, on the bright side, I can choose where I want to park it over the weekend. I really didn't want to be stuck at the Decatur (or any) terminal that long.

I stopped here at the TA for tonight, then I'll get to the closest truck stop to my delivery tomorrow night.
30 miles away, sadly, which will make it even closer on my 14 than I had hoped for. Oh well, at least that delivery is a drop.

I'll get an early start tomorrow, and with only 330 miles I'll be sure to get a good parking spot.
Another plus, and I have to keep a positive attitude.
After that load, everything should be headed towards Denver for my next home time. It had better be!

    Lewiston, stuck at the terminal.

Dropped my inbound then no dispatch on my outbound. When I call in I'm informed that I'm stuck on maintaince hold because my 90 day DOT came due on the weekend and even though I got the truck inspected in time Rapid Response doesn't work weekends and here I sit. NO ONE can override it!!
