Heck just go to the right spot in Vancouver. Pay the guy enough money and you'll be a Class 1 license holder.

Wish you luck mate. I hope you succeed. Harbor the thought, most truckers do their job not to have a great life with free time. We work so our families have a safe roof over their heads and food on the table. In doing so, we sacrifice.

Alrighty, thanks guys for all the responses, its all clearing up now! Sure that i count with
daily stress over many things you have to worry about or that just randomly occur, thats part of it for sure. Though, only i care for is to be able to "feel like home" in the truck i'd be driving, aka, i'd like to bring in all the crucious stuff like cooler, perhaps microwave and stuff. Do the employers allow that sort of things ? Because if i understand correctly, you get truck assigned to you and nobody else drives it, correct ?

Many places that offer more home time, longer home time, regional, or home daily may slipseat. The company I work for hires temp guys from a temp agency. They are off weekends and home daily. So lots of slip seating. Guys that are out more are in their own truck. Trainees sleep in trucks of guys that are off. Sometimes if you want to be home every weekend there is a price. Guys that are out all the time for weeks on and come home for 1.5 days are more at home in there trucks. A truck that sits doesn't make money. Remember this is general and situations are different at different employers.

Anti-idling laws are pretty much a non-issue here. The most likely place to find them will be in certain BC communities and in southern Ontario and the Montreal area. Some municipalities have anti-idling laws, but in most cases they are not where trucks park, so it isn't really a concern. In some cases the anti-idling provisions are very localized, like near the ventilation equipment of a hospital, apartment building, hotel, office building, etc. Also, most such laws have exemptions that will apply outside of a "livable" temperature range. Having said that, one can expect to see greater pressure to implement and enforce anti-idling provisions in the future and drivers and carriers will just have to get used to it and work within the rules.

Okay now lets get real from my prospective . I would serously think twice about it and all the BS they shoot you and drivers most of them are out for themselves and couldnt care much for a fellow driver . The drivers going up and down the 401 windsor to london in my opinion are ever increasing problems and the NEW canadians cant keep a truck majortity of time in the lanes and the talegating is just an every day occurance and very dangerous in my opinion , now there is a company in lethbridge Alberta (red trucks) promised new hires all the riches and so on and yes i got done in by them but you only get me once . NOW you may say i am negative etc and i done not care i am a realist and no its never gonna get better one time before deregulation it was okay and when i started in 88 . So do what ever u like and be advised you will be made a permanet seatcover if you let them i dont and my resume is a long as the white line on the side of the pavement . im just saying peace.
