I found out yesterday we are short a driver because one of the 'kids' 25 years
old and not to bright lost his license. Don't know all the details yet, but
apparently he got a ticket; didn't pay for it. He gets another ticket and loses
his insurance. He is driving without insurance, his personal vehicle, has an
accident. Loses his license. He was texting at the time of the accident. He
than comes to work, tells no one, and operates a company truck for several
weeks till he gets found out; with no valid drivers license.
My question is how bad is this? How soon might he be driving again? If the
company insurance founds out, what than? I don't know the legal details, so
I can't give any more particulars.
It is a very busy time for us and I guess I suspect he is probably done for.
I don't need the legal opinion, just wondering have any of you guys had
this happen or know someone who did?

^^^^^^^A pattern is showing. He was about to self destruct. It could have easily been in your rig.You guys may have dodged a bullet. If he had screwed up in your truck, it may have tanked your small company. Find another driver and consider yourself lucky.
I spoke to a driver once. He was driving flat for CRST. He had driven for decades for a smaller company that had a driver self destruct. He has improperly secured a machine to the truck and it fell off, and the driver kept going, dragging the machine until the cops pulled him. The insurance became so so high that the owner called his drivers in and told them that he would have to shut the doors.Wargames, lots of character, rcelmo and 1 other person Thank this. -
I am just the driver. I guess I personally think he needs to be gone. The decision
not mine to make.
The only reason it affects me is I will end up doing extra duty. -
With over 350,000 trucking companies in the USA, what he did or something similar, isn't uncommon.
He can find a job after he gets his CDL again, but he won't like it.bubbaray30 Thanks this. -
Don't know what would happen if insurance found out. If I were insurance, I would never insure him again.

That is my thought too. Had he told the boss as soon as he lost his license he might
have salvaged a bad situation. But when he continued to operate the company
truck knowing he had no license.....that cooked his goose. -
Ive lost my license a few times while on the road. Its not a big deal if you do this immediately, call your company then they'll fax you a copy of your license. You hang on to that till you get home.Get another duplicate license from the DMV which will probably be paper till the plastic one arrives in the mail. You give that paper license to safety at your company so they can make a copy, then once the plastic arrives you do the same thing.Your buddy got scared and look what happened.
