I got them on the rack as well as the cables. The cables were awkward to get on the rack, but they are there and locked.
Just waiting to get loads to Springmo to get the water leak into the window fixed. Hopefully, my seats will be replaced. While at the yard. From there routed through home.Brehon and nofreetime Thank this. -
Right on darth! Upgraded got you're 1st truck, and waiting on you're 1st load. Welcome to club, now go be safe and make a lot of money! Enjoy it 1st year is a lot of fun, rough, but fun.
Brehon, FullMetalJacket, darthanubis and 1 other person Thank this. -
Thanks for your help and spirit! I'm going slow and careful. I don't know how I'm liking this Prostar. Guess I'm just used to driving new Freightliners.
Here at the 01, the macro 21 said they closed at 15:00, my FM sent me the load at 14:00 and it was 1.5hrs away. The time window came through as 0700-1600. I asked to have it pushed back. FM opened the window to 0700-1800. Glad it's not on me. But I could have corrected my FM before I left.
So just waiting with a convoy of Prime trucks to get in when they reopen at 22:00. FM said it's no fault or service failure for me. Thank goodness.
I also bought $20 in pad locks from Walmart I don't need.
Just making my noob mistakes on day one. Also, to wait the few hours out without being parked illegally, I rode twenty to NJ only to reach to full truck stops. Won't do that again.
All that being said. I'm still smiling and enjoying what I'm doing. I wish I had a newer feeling truck, but maybe Springfield or the dealer will bring it back to life?Brehon, nofreetime, FullMetalJacket and 1 other person Thank this. -
Ah, must be the cold storage place there. If so, those folks are jerks in my book LOL
darthanubis Thanks this. -
Dude, you're going to do just fine. In my experience, swiching truck models & especially makes, takes a bit of adjusting. Just a matter of time.....first week or two the worst.
Remember when we talked? Comunication with your FM most critical thing to establish. You have no idea how much they depend on & appreciate this. Will go far for you to get this established as soon as you can. Have to keep them up to date as soon as possible to any delays or problems.
On flip side, remember what I told you. If you want to really run, you also should keep them informed of early ETA's as often & as soon as you can. Gives them a chance to get ahold of sales to see if appt can be moved up & also gives them a chance to start lining up your next load. Regardless of reply, would suggest trying to deliver early or make advance call on your own, no matter what directions state. No one can guarentee anyone will take early, but I guarentee you will be suprised on occasion. Couple of those in month can add up to additional couple loads you can get in. "More $.....more $". Hear me? Name of the game, my man, isn't it?
Know that's what your looking for.
Good start, just some advice. Rock on my man. Just so glad you got it all over & now out on your own. Just 'cause you WOULDN'T go out TNT with me means nothing. LOL (Yeah, know timing was screwed & smoking & all........but really wish I would have taken YOU out. Our inside joke!). You always got my # if you have any questions or run into an situations. Or, ya got me here.
Really want to see you succeed, as I personally know how much you put into it before coming out, and all you dealt with after getting here. Sooner or later, you will see that what you dealt with isn't the norm. Credit to you, you stuck it out no matter what. From just the fact of what I have seen, you are going to make it. Whether here, or there. ...your will make it. Glad to welcome you to my world.
Let me know if you need anything, brother. You have an open line with me .
PEACE

A lot out here is about developing relationships. So....so.....important.
Develop those relationships with both FM & RA.
A hell of a lot will depend on the relationships you develop with both.
You see how true this is with time.
darthanubis and nofreetime Thank this. -
RA......if you have an issue.
Remember they are dealing with upwards of 400 trucks. Some things are going to take precedence. (Accident...etc). Definately an order on priority on how things are handled.
That said, your problem may be lost in a shift change over. So, you don't want to nag......but also don't want to wait forever for them to get back to you. Have to stay on top of them. Nothing wrong with checking back w/them (in a polite manner) to make sure they are still on your issue. Stay on top of your sitution.
Routine maintenence & repairs that do not need immediate attention, plus some more major......,
Do your best to set this stuff up in advance on your own (Prime terminal or TA/Petro, other), THEN let RA know what you have planned in advance. You will find they appreciate & usually have you preapproved before you arrive. Takes a load off their back & stuff you really should be dealing with on your own, anyways. Your truck, ya know.....LOL.
You will find life much easier out here this way, and also likely find RA a lot more responsive, as you will have shown you know what you are doing out here & only need minimal assistance (authorizations) without a huge waste of time.
RA will be a HUGE deal for you if you run into issues, so developing (am I going to say relationships again? ####......I am!) relationships there will be critical. All your down time is major lost income. So yes, next major relationship you will have, aside from your FM, will be RA.
Took me bit to learn this the hard way. But, now consider my RA guys as good friends & they are the best. They have my back no matter what & I don't sit around waiting on redtape, because I handle most all on my own end in advance. If I DO have a major issue, they are right there for me. Trust them with my life, & they always have me covered.
Sorry to repeat, but......relationships, relationships, relationships..............

Nofreetime,

Always the good dude!

You're welcome!
Sounds like Americold. Good maybe you have an F.M. that's willing to finagle a bit to get you loaded.
And now you know what to expect at a 90 whenever you deliver to a cold storage, a lot of prime trucks all emptying out and looking for the next load at the same time. When that happens remember, first truck to show avail is reloaded first. Planning trips with the attitude that you are in competition with everyone of them for the next load will be helpful to your $.
Hard to say what they will do. You can ask to have the seat reupholstered.Last edited: Oct 19, 2015
