I have an older Fontaine flatbed that has stake pockets, 24" on center... with one spool in between. I'm working on a brand new Transcraft, that has stake pockets, 24" on center... with two spools in between each pocket. Wish mine Fontaine was like that...

I'm considering building a couple of stepdecks... curious what you folks like...

    Ratchet spools?

Why not put sliders on.. then put as many as you need, using them where ever you need on the trailer?

I have 10 on each side, plus another eight 2 inch ratchets. Seems accessive until you get that crazy load where you wish you had a few more.

Better to have and not need... than to need and not have.

Double spools add a little strength to the rub rail incase it gets bumped. Chain pulls and j channel are nice if the chains don't get tangled up and the channels are kept clean.

Same. The turtles with chain pullouts are slick. I'd like to have them to keep chains tight to the load since they slide across the width of the trailer instead of the length like J-plates. The rub rails on them are seriously beefy, and I like how the rope hooks hold the strap hooks up until you get them tight.

I like a lot of things on the Revolution, I would never buy one because a flat bed needs wood nail strips. 3 of them. Those tail lights are going to suck in 10 years when your trying to hunt one down sitting behind a scale somewhere.

I have a revolution and it sucks for over width loads that you want to use chains on. Especially with loads that are too low to the deck to pullout the chain pulls. Also with the way you secure the straps are not conducive to O/D loads.
And with it being smooth underneath you have no way too add a piece of flat bar behind the winches to secure straps or chains too.
