No, their web sites leaves alot to desire. But once I got past one of the reciruters[sp], they answered all my questions. I called back three times to a company and asked the same questions, looking for different answers. And I got them, so I had to have them do some back-peddling. But Shaw seemed to have the best answers. I spent 5 months looking and talking with drivers and reading this site. I had three co's picked as my top choices, Shaw was #1 for me [Prime and Central were #3, 2]. I start with them on Monday in Boise. I've been around the block and lost my rose colored glasses long ago! For me Shaw answered my needs. Good luck

Even though you weren't talk'n to me, thank you for the info on CFI. I have been wondering about them.
Do they have a cdl training program?
How much do they pay?
Do they have l/o program? -
Thanks Mr. Chisum,
I have a couple of friends that currently drive for them. I think I am looking to prime for starters though. Really want tankers, and they have that capability for me.

Yes to all three ?'s.
If I remember right, their classroom training is a longer. total abuot 6wks
First couple of wks w/ a trainer
Then 3-4wks as a team
They pay more but take monies out for school which you get back at end of the year.
Just like shaw we have no income for the first 3-4wks of classroom training.
CR is the same as most of them. MOst all have a L/O and O/O program but the forum guys say it sucks. I'm not sure about Shaw. I'm not thinking that way until I know alot more about the industry. -
That's a good idea. We ahve to do what is best for us and our family situation, whatever that may be. I don't see anyone offering to pay me when I follow their suggestions and it doesn't work out!!
Good luck -
Actually the Columbia and Century are being phased out and replaced by the Cascadia. That is a sweet truck and has the one of the highest rated fuel economies in the industry. It is actually an argument between Freightliner with the Cascadia and International with the Pro Star. And both are better on fuel than any Volvo out there.

Addition: Oh and if anyone cares to know I predict the stock market Dow 30 will drop to 10,000. Get on a truck while there are still jobs to get. -
mannmk7 No they don't have a lease purchase program or a cdl training program..If your a first time driver they start you at .28 a mile and in 3 months you go to .30 than 3 months .32 3 months .34 than at 1 year you get .36 with a .01 bonus for all miles as long as you don't get in accident. You also get an extra .04 cents for Va.,Pa.,Ny.,and any northeast states.Which I don't know of any company that will do that.
I'm tellin you the thing I liked best about them was as soon as you were dispatched you got paid none of this waiting around for paper work.I don't work for them now but if I were to go back over the road it would be with them for sure. -
No problem Nick, good luck with it you no if you don't like it leave.I hope you stay away from the lease crap.PLz.Right now dealers are starvin to sell trucks even with crappy credit you can buy with as little as 2500 down. And pretty much get any warranty you want. You can truely make a lot more coin.Brokers like Allen lund industries. Not all brokers are bad.I got family pullin for him and they never pull for less than 2.80 a mile i have seen 4.30 from him on some 300 to 500 mile loads. There is no L/P program that is not designed to make them alot of change of you and the customer.
Like I said good luck and God Bless,if you goal is to own a truck, own a truck not lease.Make yourself rich and not a leasing company Look they only pay .92 cents a mile, they are making 100 to 200 percent of of evry truck that drives for them. How else you think they can afford the prime mhall building.Get yourself a Nick mhall... -
Thanks Chism,
Yeah I will not be doing the lease thing. Don't really want any of the truck expense burdon right now. I can just drive company level. I have way to much to learn about the business to get involved with any $70 - $100,000.00 loans for truck and equipment.
All the kids are grown, hell, I have 9 grand children, and 2 of them are in high school. So as an old fart, I can just fart around and enjoy getting out, meeting some fellow vets, and make some new friends.
Sure the time line thing might be much at first, but I've been there before. Small quarters, hey, old Marine. No such thing as small quaters.
Well Chism, thanks again
