I get a recruiting email every month from them. Their pay just isn't appealing.

I see all kinds of companies adverts on my facebook page. They all pay about the same. Three things I look for in any companies pay scale is "up to (so much per mile). or they don't tell you, or average. These are all keep away from signs in my book.

Want to know a great way of reducing your chances of the heartache from going with a lousy company? Ask right in the interview the level of actual driving experience of the different office position people within the company, especially the safety department guru and dispatcher. If its little or none than its "thanks for your time". Great pay isn't always everything.

Then you have NEVER worked for a Great Carrier then. Sorry butt until your Safety Manager knows what you go through out there or your Dispatcher knows what life can be like out on the road they have no CLUE. Oh Yeah next time you run into Maury F ask him 2 Questions Why did he Sell the #1 Drivers Truck from UNDER HIM out in Denver Forcing the Driver to take the Hound back to the Yard to get a New Truck when there was nothing wrong with his and #2 ask him how Many DUI's he has.

What about the ones that claim "everybody that works here has driven a truck", then you walk through and see nothing but yuppie punks and prissy women?

Yes lots of them do lie, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Some of the smaller driver oriented take you around and introduce you to people on the grand tour during the interview. Pretty easy to tell an ex driver sitting in a cubicle. But yes if its a young girl sitting at her desk with a safety vest on than you may want to lookout. Often times you'll get experienced drivers who come into these positions for health reasons or whatever, but its the companies that don't want experienced ones in them that you need to look out for. Often there job is to do nothing other than harass in the name of safety.

Really don't care too much for the past so those questions are pointless. I don't care if he dresses up like a mouse and eats bits of cheese I just want to drive long haul. I could also careless if I am a name or a number. I hardly ever have to call dispatch and safety never bothers me. I guess I do my job huh? Also I really don't care if the people working there are yuppies guppies or puppies I'm just here to drive and have fun. When its no longer fun I will retire.

Word to the wise Strat in the mid to Late 90's Florilli was a Decent Carrier to work for. Then Maury hired his NOW SIL Brad. Brad showed up with all kinds of Ideas of what his College professors had on Logistics on how to RUN AN OTR Company. Maury had 3 Partners at the time the 2 Bros and Dwayne H or Hoppy as he was called. The Bros where the 2 that had Fronted Maury the Money to START the Freaking Company Hoppy was his Personal manager and the man the Drivers go between for the Company. Well Brad decided that trucks that ran 72 in 75 MPH speed zones where to fast so he had the shop cut the speed to 68 including the Teams that where going from CA to Chicago in less than 40 hours all the time. He then decreed that 18K was to frequent to change the Oil on the engines he wanted 40K changes when we did not have Secondary Oil Filters on CAT engines. Then he really got STUPID he started force Dispatching drivers. Turnover SOARED from 20% a year to 300% a year. When I started there I was 220 on the list after Brad was done with his Ideas and he ran off all 3 of Maury's Partners in the TIME I WAS THERE I was 12th on the list in 16 Months.

Here was how DUMB Brad was when it came to HOS. We had a Federal FMCSA audit going on as the Company had seen its HOS Violations skyrocket and along with OOS for Brakes and other Stupid crap that was being CAUGHT BEFORE when the trucks where being Fixed. Well I was at the Yard Sitting on my 70/8 I was Out of HOURS til Midnight he goes Run this load to Chicago I went I CAN'T I AM OUT OF HOURS with a FEDERAL DOT OFFICER LOOKING AT HIM HE GOES GET ANOTHER BOOK AND FIX YOUR LOGS SO YOU HAVE HOURS. I Said NO he goes your Screwed at this Carrier 2 months later I was OUT THE DOOR. The company was hammered with an UNSAT Rating for 5 years for that one. He has NO Clue the only reason why he is still there is HIS WIFE Maury's Step Daughter.
