I well remember the restaurant and the food! Shoemakers was a MUST stop for me. And the truck wash wasn't bad either.
Not to mention the NASCAR collectibles they sold in the store.
And the big barrels of interior fresheners at a bargain price.
But the TV room left a little to be desired.
Pretty girls for me, please.
As I recall, Cushman had already been bought out by a British corporation when I was pulling their loads.
Now they're in Meh-Hee-Ko?
I bet that hurt the local economy.
How is the zoo doing?
I made a side stop there, but just for my amusement. I didn't haul any animals.
College towns --- gotta love 'em.
Lincoln is one of those places I wouldn't mind living.

Anyway thanks for the reply's. For the military most NG i have talked to have gone over to Iraq, if i was single i would have no problem with it, but the wife kind of shook her head to that one. Does not help that a good friend of hers son has been over there twice and gearing up for a third tour.
On the schnieder stuff i was talking about, I was more worried about their idle percentage and canning you over a minor scratch. I have a oustanding driving record but when i first learned i did scape a fender on a pole here and there.
But all around their are my top choice along with prime. Im still checking on local training to have more options. Also con way is 10 miles away from me around here so im looking in to them. anyway thank you all for your advice.

If I were you, I'd hang onto that wife of your's.
And you can tell her I said so.
Here's what Schneider told us when I drove for them ---
We WON'T fire y'all for damaging equipment or being involved in an accident.
But we WILL fire y'all for NOT reporting it.
I thought that was fair.
And I found that to be true.
And Schneider kept drumming that MOST accidents happen while backing. And they stressed G.O.A.L.
*Get Out And LOOK.
Good advice, IMO --- and it worked for me.
Other seasoned Big truck truck drivers might kid and rib y'all about gettin' out and lookin' a bunch of times while backing. But, deep down, they appreciate y'all's concern -- not wanting to hit another Big truck that might just be THEIRS.
I've even had them offer to help watch my donkey as I progressed in reverse.
If they're laughing, I found it best to just laugh WITH them AT me. I learned more helpful tips on backing from them that way, rather than copping an attitude.
And more often than not, they'd admit that when THEY first started, backing wasn't THEIR best ability either.
On one occasion, two drivers approached me when I was attempting a tricky, tight back into a dock and announced they were there to help me because they figured they owed me.
Seems they, and a couple of other drivers were watching my lack of progress backing, and after my 8th pull-up, those two had won a $5 bet that I'd git 'er done by the 7th try.
I'm here to announce, with their help, I got 'er done on the 9th try.
After the dock plate was in place, they even bought me a cold soda because, as they told me -----
Man, driver, you're sweatin' bullets.
Let's go to the lunch room to cool off.
And we talked truckin' till it was time to go.
And as we parted company -- they were STILL laughin'. Only THIS time, they were laughin' at the guys who lost the bet.
Side Bar --- a few years later, I did the same thing. I bet a couple of good ol' boyz that my female trainee could git 'er done by backing into the dock from down under -- only I bet heavier --- and they paid ME $30.
Which I split with my trainee and bought her dinner.
Ahhhhhh -- the satisfaction of a well trained trainee.

. well it stayed on a couple post basis then forgot about it for a couple days and pow there it all was.
indeed it does ive been going through threads like crazy and im sure i shall come up with more things to ask in the near future, i have time i got 6 cords of wood to put away for my uncle before i will do anything. hes 94 and can still run around like he was 60
Good to hear, im alwase willing to communicate. ONly other thing i worry about is the idling, I am not one that can handle heat very well, im a winter sort of guy hence why i guess i live in maine
I bet ill have just as much fun backing my first time and then several times after. Thanks for all the info i appreciate along with the rest of the newbie group Oh on thing im having a hard to findng is hazmat info on what i will need to know for all types.

Check the Schneider website. They have study guides and every state DMV manual available to download. They also have online practice tests.
You should be able to find what you need there.
