Hello, I spent 7 years driving, 1 year working in a brokerage and now I have decided to work for myself as dispatcher. I wanted to know from the drivers perspective what a fair rate for a independent dispatcher is for finding loads for clients.

Are you brokering loads too? Or just a third party?

Do you have your own brokers license? Or just planning to go on load boards for independents and offer them those loads?

If its the ladder of what @rholl32 said, you won't have much business.

Just being a third party. Just booking loads/ back-hauls for them with their authority and handling collections and invoicing.

You know, if you worked for a brokerage firm, you might know some of those clients that were unsatisfied with the service that that brokerage gave them (ie: charge a bit higher rate for better service). Research how to and the laws of becoming your own brokerage and approach it that way, otherwise your just searching an hourly paid job because most small carriers already have someone sitting in front of a computer delving over the multitude of load boards.

    Othello Gage Thanks this.

That's worth about 6% of the load. Not much given current rates.

There is a market for what you ask. How much of a asset to your carriers will determine your paycheck. Just being a third party as Freddy57 states is not much. Knowing where the freight is key. Not the load board. You need people calling you to move the freight.

5~7% on good paying loads... or if you're simply trying to bounce a truck to a better location take nothing.
