I have one of those special tools. Works on all special sockets.

Yep you can buy special sockets to get them off. I had a set at the dealership for when we got cars in that didn't have their key.

You don't need your special socket. A hammer, locking lug socket and a breaker bar or cordless impact is all that's needed.

Locking lugs stop the common thief but not someone that knows what they are doing.

    truckon Thanks this.

If I was a thief why would I bother going into your consol? Someone may have hided the socket somewhere else so why waist time looking for it?
I would just cut off the rack that is holding the tire on and take my time removing the tire from it later.
Yep. As the saying goes, a lock keeps an honest man honest. They don’t do much to stop a determined thief.

Down here in Orlando, the third worlders can have that wheel off before you can get into your console. Lug locks on an open wheel like that are to keep honest people honest.
