Just curious if I were to apply for the choice program, and I have sleep apnea as long as i bring my compliance download from my machine is there an issue, also for any IC's with sleep apnea is there any discount on supplies, I know 5 years ago as a company driver you got stuff for next to free with there insurance, but as a contractor is there any discounts?

As long as you have an approved machine you're fine. When they set up my orientation they wanted to know what machine I was using...it was on their approved list and all I needed to do was bring in my downloaded data and good to gofree2frog Thanks this.

I still have the same machine as when i was a company driver there so hopefully if i go this route it wont be an issue.
-
No discounts you are on your own. I get most of my supply's from cpap.com
Ok big boy and free2frog Thank this. -
I wonder why IC's are required to comply with company driver standards for this?
DOT does not require they only suggest the minimum compliance standards SNI sets the company driver policy as if you are 1 and the same.
I understand it's company policy but to have the exact same requirements for Sleep apnea would lead one to believe IF they went tobacco free they would require IC to be also. Or even footwear!
I'm not saying those who benefit from the cpap machines should not use them I am just curious as to why there's not any stink about IC being held to company driver standards on this as well as other issues. -
They don't even enforce it unless you voluntarily submit to the program. I needed my cpap data report for my medical card renewal and I contacted the service that Schneider uses in Houston to get a print out of my report. At that point they registered me up and I was then subject to Schneider compliance.
I probably just slipped through the cracks but if I knew/had the correct software to produce my own reports Schneider wouldn't have even caught on -
Did SNI cover you on the compliance monitoring? Or were you billed?

I use sleepyhead. Just google it. -
Pick & choose your battles. This one isn't worth it. It's not a big deal to submit the compliance data sheet.
Didn't cost me anything to have someone print it out for me to bring to orientation & I didn't do it through SNI. -
I thought I responded to this already so maybe I put it in the wrong thread. Lol.
Anyway this isn't just Schneider. I've worked as an IC before and still had to comply with their apnea regulations. Not a big deal for me though.
