Im in a 2015 Cascadia and the apu is done. Have to go get it repaired. I have a vizio led tv in the storage cabinets open space. How long can i use that tv until the batteries are drained to far to start and charge. Ive used too much fuel between idling and having to regen. Please help me out guys. Im new to this forum and im new to trucking. Still in training.

I can't tell you how long....however the truck will protect itself from the tv draining the batteries to the point of not starting. Low voltage disconnect or something like that. An alarm will probably go off.
Justin Chapman Thanks this. -
You will (Or should) get an audible warning just prior to shutdown. How long that is depends on lots of things.
1. How long did you go (drive) prior to where you're at now
2. How long have you put a load on your batteries since you shut down
3. How many items, besides the TV are you running (Or have you run)
4. Have you idled at all since you shut down (And for how long)
Cascadias (At least mine) are equipped with a low voltage shutdown. Your's probably has the same. The shutdown protects your batteries from a low voltage condition that would make the truck unable to crank.
Fix? Idle the truck.Justin Chapman and 77smartin Thank this. -
If that happens then how long would you recommend idling the truck to fully charge the batterries and save fuel.

You gotta experiment with this...to many variables.MJ1657 and Justin Chapman Thank this.

Check your gauge. The only way to allow the batteries to come up to full snuff is over a 6-9 hour period of time which usually occurs normally as you drive during the course of a day. Minor loads (Or drains) on the electrical system shouldn't drain the batteries too much.
Like I said, check your voltage gauge. What's it showing?Justin Chapman Thanks this. -
Who do you drive for? Might want to ask a driver from your company. All companies have different setups.

When i turn the truck on but don't start it goes down to 12.7V on both dash and inverter but when the truck is off it shows 12.8V on the inverter and showed 12.9V before i turned the key on.

How many batteries do you have? 3 or 4? Also are you pulling a reefer?
I have the same TV and my batteries will last 4-5 hours before it starts running low. But if you have a reefer get a nice pair of jumping cables (not the cheap crap) and incase your batteries get low plug it to the reefer and run the reefer hard so it kicks out more energy. It should get you to start the truck up and let your alternator do its job. That's if you were to have your batteries drained by any chances.Ozdriver and Justin Chapman Thank this. -
You should still be good. However, just to be on the safe side, I wouldn't put anything else on the batteries and shut down down the TV.
Justin Chapman and lots of character Thank this.
