What is the first thing you guys would tell me?

Be honest please, I want to hear the everything that comes to mind.

If I do work for them, it will be the Regional Intermodal out of Chicago since I am about 10min away from their hub.

I thought you had to have a year of experience to work for them? They train?

Not here in Chicago, they take people from a list of schools that they approve or visit (List is pretty big)

    And they do train! :)

Haz mat and tanker are not big deal for me.

As in, I can get them no problem.

Intermodal is a different animal from any other form of trucking (I guess it's all different)...be patient, be Patient, be PATIENT!!!! there WILL be holdups at the rail (though working for SNI you might get it better...dedicated chassis and all..)...The first month or two you'll be lost...BE PATIENT!!!!

    that's pretty much it....

second to that if you have a gps save the addresses of the rail yard, and have the apps for the rail yards that will save you a whole bunch of time, try to learn what time are the rush hour on the rail yards and I cant stress this enough do a tug test and make sure all pins are locked I have seen too many accidents and empty boxes flying out of chassis because someone didn't check their pins
