What's amazing is how much these companies make and then turn around and pay their drivers. If you demand respect then you need to find a new line of work. There's a reason truck stops are filled with overweight slobs dumping their piss bottles and their trash all over the parking lot. Don't think I've ever met a trucker with any self respect. Plus companies like to hire minorities to keep the pay rate low. Good ole America.

I am a little suspicious of the original posters comments, only because 1200 is crazy low even for any company. They have to make money also. Dispatchers at marten are rated on the trucks revenue, so low miles won't make their numbers. I only got that low of miles weeks I'm home, or doing dedicated work where you make more on hourly and stop pay. And certainly not more than one week or two.

Also marten automatic detention pay, is really almoat that. You have to scan you bills but as soon as you leave you get a message about pending detention. You have to be on time, and send in the right messages, but nothing less then you have to do with anyone else. I have only been denied once, and that was because I didn't send in my arrival correct, my fleet manager issued a PO to correct my mistake.

Marten truly does have a equipment problem, they don't clean them well and are quick to just move you into another truck. However, I have never moved into a truck without cleaning it myself first, so I'm not mad at the job, or surprised by something nasty, because few companies do a great job cleaning trucks.

Because in 18 years I don't know many companies that give a new person the good equipment, it's always the run down over used truck till you have established your not a clown.

Does Marten offer refresher training for drivers that have been out of the saddle for a while?

Not to my knowledge, it's a matter of if your experience is recent enough to meet their requirements, they don't ask for much experience, and I think they will hire someone how has been out a while, but if you have forgotten, become unconfident in your skills, they do no training at all.
