I don't blame a single broker for the cheap rates. I blame the idiot that agrees to haul that cheap rate down the road.

I think what sucks the most is that a lot of times it's the guys that's trying to stay local/regional. Happens a lot here in Florida. They haul that 48k lumber all day long to be home that night

I probably have the craziest quotes than anyone. But I'll settle for reasonable... Won't move below it, but my trucks will move without it.

Encountered a guy at home at a friends house. He is an owner operator. He came from Europe and put together some money for a truck in cash. He is loving the market... He says at 1/mile he is making money all day long. Never has to wait. He just calls and says "send it over". His paychecks are like 1,300$ a week. We all tried to explain to him he can get more... No.. He called us greedy and unrealistic.. Loads that pay more are scams. His $1,300 a week is way more than his 300 euros a month and he's happy. It's safe to say he was booted out the house.

How is he losing money? I'm european myself. I thought foreigners haul for cheap was an American myth.

You have a paid off trucks. You pay for insurance which his is like 160/week. $200 trailer rental. His fixed costs are 360 a week... On 4,000 miles running illegally.. He pays 10%.. Grosses 5,600$ lets says... That's $860. He'll spend like $1800 on fuel ... That's $2660 out of 5,600 on 4 thousand miles equal to close to $3,000. Deduct his tolls or whatever he says he makes 1,300

He didn't understand break downs etc. The guy is wreck less in a $8,000 freightliner that Americans would die for. And to him to be left with average of $1,300 is better than $300 euros in his country

I call this BS, 1099 Chicago outfits all pay now 50cpm to people who want to run 4k miles per week. Just as a driver he will make 2k weekly.
Do you guys really think that these poor souls who haul for cheap make that much difference on the market? Why nobody was complaining for the last 3 years?
There is less freight now and lots of trucks, simple as that. Brokers offer low rates and dont even want to negotiate. I think lots of people will go out of business before the end of next year, but before they do, we could see even lower rates, because people are desperate and will do anything to stay afloat. Nobody wants to see his new shiny truck being taken away by finance company

I call BS that American citizens are driving for .32 CPM. I call BS guys lease to Forward Air for their might buck a mile loads on 2000 miles a week.

I also call BS someone owner operator pays 30+% to dispatch themselves.... Then I see landstar.

I fight cheap freight by working less down to about 2 days a week on average now.
