It's either that or Cuyahoga Community College. I know you probably going to test at Ohio Highway patrol in Lodi*, Ohio. we had a bunch of supervisors fail class B there initially, even twice..
After awhile that 100-150 bucks a pop the company starts squalking...
* I think it's actually Spencer, not sure anymore... -
Congratulations; it's a great career.
Any ideas as to what type trucking you want?
Get all the endorsements plus TWIC and passport for more job opportunities. -
I was looking at TDDS because of their financial aid program. They accept the Pell and a bunch of other stuff. I've heard good things.
I appreciate it. Family has been doing it for years, finally time to jump into it. Looking for Flatbed. Keeps you busy and active from what I hear. About as much as you can get in a truck. I planned on overachieving as much as I could through the course. I wouldn't mind doing flatbed for a few years then settling down on something local. We have a lot of companies that haul fuel up here in NE Ohio. -
Several good flatbed companies to choose from. Get the hazmat endorsement and a passport.
Here's some companies that run 48 states & Canada and maybe an Alaska once in a blue moon. These hire new CDL grads. and will probably take you because of the school you're attending. It's best to apply early and don't wait until graduation.
System Transport
Waggoners Trucking Co.
Universal Truckload
The school you're attending is 16 weeks, so start submitting applications about 4 or 5 weeks before graduation.
Universal Truckload hauls military loads and hire new CDL grads. You'll need TWIC for this company. Google for nearest TWIC office to apply. TWIC ID card is needed for entry to sea ports, military bases, rail yards, chemical plants.
Waggoners probably has the highest cpm which I think is .50 cpm.
You probably won't hear about these 3 companies in CDL school. Most schools push the "usual suspects" because it's easier that way for their "job placement." Actually there's dozens of companies, flatbed/dry van/refrigerated/tankers that hire new CDL grads.Last edited: Oct 27, 2015

I'm attending tdds right now. I'm in the 25 week course and I'm about to finish. it's a really good school just make sure you show up every day you are scheduled because they will give you the boot real quick. all the instructors are really helpful and will make sure you learn what you need to. the trucks kinda suck though
