    You did the right thing.

Always CYA: report it, let the higher-ups make the decisions, and then follow their instructions. And take pictures to back up what you're reporting.

What exactly was leaking? Are there any bodies of water within a few miles of the storm drain?

Dish detergent, la totally awesome, sonething else. Yes i have hme, i worked wrecker business for years. Yes i did the besti could to contain it once i saw it. Broken cases are a big problem on this acct. Had the storm drain not been there/ been comprised i could have threw oil absorbant, cleaned up and been done. No need to call saftey for a minor spill. However. ..... ny just like MA and CA have big fines and big issues with water sources being comprimised.
The loads usually contain bleach, amonia, butane lighters, dish detergent, class 9 misc, laundry detergent. Whatever was compromised, i got a whiff of it, and well had gotten really sick last night from it. Put myself OOS and been in bed since i unloaded.
Like i said, no storm drain i clean up and no call. However saftey obviously agrees with me if they called clean up company. Far as I'm concerned, if Werner has the people who care, they will hand dollar tree the bill since dollar tree loads these trailers half ###. OM doesn't stand up to Dollar Tree on these issues, and it bit them in the ### hard. That's why he's pissed. Not my problem.

You did the right thing. Don't be surprised that they retaliate.

    YOU did the right thing.

as for me, i would have taken my 5 gallon pail that i use as a toilet, hung it from under the trailer, and kept driving, then, when empty, i would have went to a truck wash, and have it washed, then as soon as possible, drop the trailer and run like my pants were on fire......

You do not have the training to call it a hazmat unless you have a BOL or Shipping Papers stating that it is and what it is. If you want to cover your yourself then go ahead and make your calls. They may be more trouble than what is really necessary. Otherwise you do like G. Anthony.

I called saftey department and let them make decisions. But ###### if I'm getting in trouble for chemicals leaking into a drain because minimum wage workers can't do their jobs properly
