Actually Chinatown has helped a lot already and gave me some great suggestions.
Unfortunately they wouldn't hire me for whatever reason.
Yeah the 1st week is backing and yard with simulator.

the training time you suggested sounds low....
I thought it was 3-6 weeks out with a driver at his discretion.
I have a friend going to schneider and that's what his deal is. -
I swear, all this "trainer this" and "schooling that" crap just boggles my mind. Way back when, I got in a truck with a CDL holder for about 4 hours, then went and got my test done. Training/orientation at my first gig was about 1 1/2 mile road test, then a pat on the back, a set of keys, and a "don't screw my truck or my loads up, driver", and that was that.
I think I'm under-qualified to become a driver now after 17+ years.....
Pintlehook, Straight Stacks, Lightside and 3 others Thank this. -
Schneider won't give you #### for shutting down in bed weather. When they say your the captain of your ship they mean it. I'm not on the company side but, I know this to be true.
Lightside Thanks this. -
Schneider would be my choice between the two. That two weeks in the classroom actually covers some important information, if memory serves. Plus, Schneider has multiple opportunities. Dry box, tanker, container, and if rumor is correct Schnieder may be returning to the flatbed game (God help us all!).
Remember, you aren't picking the company you will retire from. Take the time, get the best training bang for your buck (including classroom time) and learn all you can. This is an incredibly skilled job for being "unskilled labor".CJndaTruck, Lightside and Mike2633 Thank this. -
No trainers, no check rides, nada nothing but you break it, you'll be the one fixing it and if you ain't rollin we aint makin no money... understand.
Fortunately I did have a good extended network of skilled operators that held support meetings most weekends,
Plenty of Ice Cold... well anyway.
One had a REO with a DripTroit with a 5n2, was good for skills Assesments

Actual training, what a novel idea..Lightside Thanks this.
