Speed warning

If a cop is with CMV enforcement division (license and weight) and has the "certification", they are free to stop any us dot'd or tx dot'd truck and perform any level of inspection, anywhere, any time. Not sure what sort of cop this was but the fact he had CMV inspection forms tells me he was a "CMV cop"

 

ohio dot cop stopped me back in july with the bs story of a loose chain. checked chain, tight as can be. said thank you but I guess you was mistaken have a nice day and left him standing there with a puzzled look as I pulled away!

 

While I applaud the reasoning behind CSA-2010 I hate what it has turned into. While the driver is legally the final authority on the operation of the truck, we all know the carriers intimidate drivers. I stood up when I was in the right. I would not put a trailer on the road with bad tires or brake line leaks. I just don't think they should be keeping databases on drivers. Let the state DMVs and DAC do this. With the above said its important to remember this is only a database. One hit will not get you disqualified. If you are so close that a hit like this does get you took off the road, then maybe you need to be took off the road. Warnings should not go on your DMV record and it should not cause you problems with your insurance company. What I am trying to point out here is by itself this is a very minor issue if you have a clean record. If however you don't its major and indicative of larger problems the system was designed to weed out.

Warnings don't do anything, its just a formal "Don't do that!" Haha.

You would be correct IF he didn't add on the DOT inspection too. That's what makes all the difference.

I think it was a typo. He said the seat belt hurts his guys but I think he meant gut. I'm just guessing but I have that problem on long trips. I'm about 210 5'7 and I got a belly on me. On long trips my seat belt will cause some discomfort pressing my belt buckle against my gut. It can be quite aggravating. Maybe the op will clear this up cause I'm curious myself. I don't know how a seat belt could affect your junk
