Sounds like what they're basically saying is this:
The camera cannot be viewed as a live feed. Meaning management can't sit behind a desk and watch what you're doing in real-time.
The camera can be activated remotely. Meaning management can designate a random time for the camera to record and then review the footage after its uploaded.
So while they can't watch you rolling down the road they can tell the camera when to record even if there is no critical event report. This could be used to check up on drivers and randomly monitor them.
Technically they're not lying, the cameras cannot produce a live feed however they can be activated for no reason and the footage can be reviewed after its been recorded, so it's technically not live. Still shady and I doubt any company would ever explain it like that.

So it records outside the truck, in the cab, and records your cell phone conversations too? So basically its recording audio/video everything you say, fart, burp, etc 24/7 because you have to know it's not just linking up with your cell phone, right? But don't worry, they aren't really LISTENING to you or WATCHING you, it's all just for observation of critical events...

Would you care if your hotel management watched you actively ####### your wife in your room or if they just recorded it for future enjoyment?
For any recording to exist you have to be recorded live while you are doing whatever you are doing and has no relevance on whether they are watching it live or saving it for later. Any recording of anything is live and I don't see how the political explanation causes anybody to see it as any different.JV_620, BigMuthaTrucka and ira1377 Thank this. -
I merely interpreted the post so your question about how I would feel is kind of irrelevant.
But again, there is a difference between recorded live and live streaming. It's not political, it's a honest difference. -
When we had a driver or EO we suspected didn't do their PTIs/PSIs when I was a mechanic at Martin-Marietta Materials, we used to do the same thing... always something we knew would get a particular rise out of that operator. E.g., if the guy was a diehard Ron Paul fanatic, we'd write in paint marker somewhere "(so-and-so" voted for Obama", stuff to that effect... not once did any of it come back to us.
There's a reason 'Rachel' does that, and it comes back to drivers who've failed to do their inspections. Don't blame her for that - she's doing her part to protect company assets. And if you're finding the stuff she hides, good job.Father Luke Thanks this. -
They're the same animal from where I sit.

It's impossible not to record something live though haha
You can't go back in time to record it so saying it was recorded when it happened live is redundant
Is my OCD showing? It feels like it lol -
Hey WitchingHour. Scheduled for Navajo orientation. Are they a pretty average outfit? It was either them or Werner. I am a recent CDL grad. Thanks

Yup I'd be out the door. Refuse to drive with a driver camera in my truck.
Good luck hope everything works out for you. -
I was a mechanic for them (well, still am, as a part-timer). We do have some of their drivers on here, who would probably be able to offer a better perspective of working for them as a driver than I could.Lightside Thanks this.
