My husband has a 2016 Volvo 670, DD13, iShift and is looking at ways to increase the fuel mileage. He's currently only getting 6-6.5 mpg. It's only got 3000 miles on it so far, so we know it still needs broken in, but we're just trying to figure everything we can do to help it to increase our profits. The RR on the tires are 110 on the steers and 99 on the drives.
He runs reefer, and heavy most of the time. Any info would be great! Links to where to find stuff is also great, lol. Thanks so much!

Drive slower and use cruise control. Move the fifth wheel all the way forward to close the gap between tractor/trailer. (A few of the more common practices).

Most of the time cruise will do worse than a steady right foot. Been proven over and over
Diesel Dave Thanks this. -
His truck is governed at 68 and he doesn't use cruise.

I hope you aren't serious.

Upshift at 1200?? How low of an RPM can you pull at without straining the engine?
-
Running at 68 will use a good amount of fuel. Tell him to run at 60 and anticipate slowdowns as early as possible.
Voodoo Pyg and Straight Stacks Thank this. -
Look it up bro

So with a 13 manual, you would be pulling at about 900 RPMs, right?
