    I was about to toe the same thing. I just watched a video that said the economy was down and freight was proving it. Freight is a big indicator of the economy. If people are buying we move more freight.
    I don't know who to believe. Just keep trucking and hope for the best.

    around here, rent is $1 per square foot. i THINK it's about $4 per square foot in new york city.

    seems like one of the construction guys i was talking to on a job site i delivered too in san francisco, was paying $2.50 per square foot. if i remember right. it was last year when i talked to him.

    I get out of the store the quickest way possible, if its a self checkout, so be it.

    One of the reasons I hear attributed to the slowdown in freight is that there was concern about a strike at the West Coast Ports at one point and many businesses stockpiled extra inventory as in case it happened.

    Now they are sitting in the extra and orders are down, that combined with the expected seasonal slowdown in the flat bed sector has people scrambling for loads. Demand (loads) is down, supply (Trucks) is up, so down come the rates.

    The slowdown in freight is attributed to the 2000 oil companies no longer in business..that's a LOT of trucks not hauling pipe anymore. And they gotta haul something if they wanna stay in business.

    That is also a lot of high paying jobs lost. And people not buying stuff at the stores anymore. I can testify to that.

    I would use self checkout if i got a discount. why am I paying the same for merchandise and doing the job the store has to pay someone to do.....I hear people always saying I wont haul that for free. but have no problem saving stores money by checking themselves out. what is next you have to mop down the aisle to get to the butt wipe

    I'm with you, brother. Would gladly pay some kid to bag my groceries, take them out to my truck, and put them in there. What's next, gonna have to hand crank your gas/diesel out of the big bulk tank into your car?
