Marijuana and trucking....

Can we stop calling weed "dope" - i.e. "If you want to do dope there's no place in trucking for you". I'm sorry, I've tried to stay out of this argument because it's been beaten to death. But if you call weed "dope"- in this day and age, you're completely out of touch.

That's not a semantics issue either. If I have to explain it to you you've never suffered the effects that true "dope" has on a family. Trust me, it ain't weed.

 

Yes weed is dope, i have never met another recovering addict that did not start their addiction career smoking pot 1st. yeah we were breast fed, drink tap water, and went to public school too. we did it to not feel the way we were feeling at the time and for a looooong time it was fun. there are lingering effects. never met a drunk or a crack head, or heroin junkie that didnt use weed as a substitute to get them to their next fix. also never met someone that smokes weed and would do a line or drop a hit of acid or "roll" or get drunk. Get out of denial. I have been there done that and beat it. Do what you wanna do just do it in another industry where your action dont affect the rest of us.

 

Most people try tobacco, than alcohol first. Are those dope?

Amazing how decades of government propaganda can dumb down some people.

 

most guys(males) that i have come across in my 7 years of recovery started smoking pot regularly before doing the tobacco or alcohol. it is a recreational drug... that misleads the user into thinking that other drugs can be used recreationally also. Puking isnt as much fun as getting the munchies. parents tend to smell the tobacco easier than the marjuana. probably because we dont share cigarettes.

Thats so far from the truth. Lots of drug addicts....as mayter of fact most have other underlying issues that they go to drugs to try and cope with. They try and self medicate and end up figuring out that harder drugs can do a better job.
There's nothing in marijuana that will make you want to smoke crack or shoot up heroin. Thats the deeply flawed far reaching gateway argument thats ridiculous.

 

I dont mean to impose on your opinions at all. Im just saying in our industry any mind altering or mood altering substance should not be used...getting tore up from the floor up on vacation is different than using on every break.

 

Well I can't speak for everyone, but my group of friends started with what we could get our hands on easiest which was beer and cigarettes
