My time at CR England's CDL School & 9 month experience / review

How's it going everyone. I wanted to make a thread about my current ongoing experience with CR England's CDL school in Cedar Hill, Tx and my soon to be experience as a C.R.E. driver. I've posted on the forum a few times, but for those that don't know, I'm a newbie to the industry and just looker for a better path in my life. Was separated from the Army in 2012 with a Gen w/Honorable discharge and been trying to find a good career ever since. Was wanting to be a truck driver when I got out but I had to be 23 in most places.. Which brings me here.

I turned 23 two weeks ago and I decided to call to some CDL schools around San Antonio and this one was the only one that would accept me after all of my previous employment. Yup.. it's CR England.. But I'm not complaining. Anything is better than nothing right now. So here we go.. I'll try to update this as much as possible during my experience with C.R.E. so people can get a idea of what it will be like to work here from a entry level students perspective, instead of hearing it from people that haven't done any time with this company...

Might be late sometimes updating but I'll do my best!

I'm one of those rare Swifties that has had crazy good luck and experiences with the company.

Anyway I am based on a dedicated account right next to your school.

Did not see any trucks most of the summer.... Then a few weeks ago they have steadily been back at it.

Did the school have to halt after that wreck?

Oh by the way.. Forgot to tell yall. During my second week there was an accident right across from the school parking lot on the other side of the highway. Wanna guess which company it was? Yup..

So at the school, they have an open policy where they have people from other countries come here to go through the school and obtain their CDL so they can go back to their country and drive. One major one is people from Somalia.. Guys who can't speak or understand English if their lives depended on it. Well while a few of them were out driving on a truck and learning how to shift and highway drive, I guess the trainer on their truck figured it was ok to let one drive on the highway... Bad choice. The Somalian guy that was driving was only one exit and one turnaround to get back to the school, not even a half mile away, and he forgot what gear he was in.. So while he was shifting through gears figuring out which one he was in, he was turning the steering wheel at the same time. Before he even had a chance to turn back into his lane the truck skidded when he shifted and the WHOLE truck went over the concrete median. I'm talking about the tractor and the trailer! smh.. A whole 100ft, the guy was sliding on the middle of the highway. The trailer ended up un-coupling and flipped and left the tractor on the side the highway.

I had just got done taking my writing test at the DMV when it happened. Our bus driver got a picture of it and showed us lol. And when we were driving back to the school, the city had already took the trailer but the tractor was still there when we passed by the accident. It took the school a few days to send that guy back home to Somalia.. So don't worry, he's not on the road fellas. But I can't say that about the other Somalian guys that couldn't comprehend what accelerate or shift meant..

Why on earth would CRE bring Somalis over here to train ? How does the co. benefit from that ?

Really?

Cheap labor that doesn't/can't complain about salary because it's worse back home?

Doesn't seem too hard for me to understand.

Not to mention the money that company can make if they fool them into signing-a-lease and thus becoming yet another puppet for CR England.
